As a company operating globally, Zünd is very aware of its responsibilities to preserve our environment and continually strives to limit the carbon footprint of its products and activities. Management’s desire to balance economic, ecological, and social concerns forms the basis for all of Systemtechnik AG’s goals and actions. What we make reflects our concern for people and the environment; what we do, our intent to strike a balance between economy and ecology. Our corporate structure is future-oriented, and even though we do business worldwide, we never lose sight of our local responsibilities and are fully committed to furthering the social and economic well-being of the Rhine Valley region. Mission statement

The Green Side of Zünd
Our Facilities
Zünd Systemtechnik AG’s facilities also reflect the company’s concern for conservation. Our first construction project was realized in 1995 and included an array of energy-saving features: an energy-efficient natural gas heating system, predominantly glass exterior for passive solar heating in winter, automatic shade and window control for ventilation and cooling in summer, as well as sensor-controlled maximization of natural lighting. The grassy areas displaced by the new building were replanted on its roof. New landscaping, for which Zünd received regional recognition, was designed to be as natural as possible. In 1998 and 2002 a second and third building were built to even more stringent specifications. A further expansion of our production facilities currently under construction will be the first Minergie-P industrial building in Switzerland, with the highest possible rating for energy efficiency.
Our Employees
Zünd has a company-wide policy for waste separation. Separate, clearly marked waste containers for metal, wood, and carton/paper are available for employee use through-out our facilities. The Zünd logistics department oversees waste management internally, while a local waste management firm takes care of pick-up and disposal. Energy efficiency is also a prime consideration in the purchase of new company vehicles, and we carefully maintain our existing fleet according to manufacturers’ specifications.
Our Production
Zünd is compliant with EU directive RoHS, which limits the use of hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment (e.g. with lead-free soldering). Because of the modularity of Zünd cutting systems, customers are not forced into purchasing components they do not need, which in turn helps conserve raw materials. A common „green thread“ runs through all phases of production, from the components furnished by our suppliers to the end product. Larger parts made from synthetic materials are coded for material-specific recycling. 90% of our suppliers are located in close proximity to Zünd and within a 20-kilometer range of the Rhine Valley.
Our Product
Energy efficiency is one of the Zünd G3 series‘ best attributes. An integrated vacuum generator, variable from 1-9 kW (optional up to 15kW), delivers only as much vacuum as any given cutting/routing application requires. This dramatically reduces overall energy consumption, which is not only beneficial to the environment but also helps minimize the cost of operating the machine. Because of the unique modularity of G3, customers can match tooling precisely to their needs and limit the amount of mass that needs to be moved for each cutting task. Designed for 24/7 operation, G3’s quality, design, and construction are such that the need for maintenance and service visits is minimal, which also helps reduce the total number of kilometers our technicians have to travel.
Our Certifications
